Rawroccan aka Karim est un artiste dont vous pouvez retrouver les photos dans le restaurant Machi Mouchkil à Tamraght. Je l’ai interviewé pour en savoir sur lui, son art, ses inspirations et sa technique.

Adrien : Hello Karim, can you introduce yourself ?

Karim : Karim from Agadir a human being that loves to create and illustrate the rawness and the beauty of the REAL RAW Morocco.

Adrien : How did you start photography ?

Karim : My dad – Allah y rahmo – use to buy a lot of single use Fujifilm quick snap cameras. So when he is used to sleep I took and start to shoot random things.

He never pay attention to how many pictures left, he use just to shoot family gatherings and his friends ) Until he finds out the day of developing the films.

And for the first time I start selling my shoots was around the year of 2007 I used to play pétanque with my dad and I go travel with him in weekends events (pétanque tournament).

So I used to shoot other players with fujifilm quick snap camer print it and sell it to others pétanque in the next weekend. I used to sell it with 1€

Adrien : How do you define your style ? Karim : Raw n real as a child capturing everything he founds and notice around him.
Adrien : Which technics are you using ? Karim : All of the pictures are taking only by phone and most of them are unedited as I feel it as I saw it as I capture it as you see it and feel it. RAW AND REAL. And basically in my shoots I try to focus more on men and there daily struggle that they don’t talk about. (Providing/stress/protection/mental health) Ps: Keep in my mind if purchase my art you will be the only one that own it, so it’s a single copy art work

Adrien : Could you explain the meaning of each photography exposed ?

Karim :

  • Moul Zitoun (Olive guy) : I was eating Maakouda sandwich in old Medina of Fes and infront of maakoud place the face of Moul Zitoun guy and his way of treating his clients in a peaceful/ zen way attracted my phone lens.. Price : 50€
  • Cooper master craftsmen (Maalem) : The oldest master craft main old Medina of Fes. He was at place Seffarine since he was 8 years old, starting from collecting and delivering big Cooper-ware. I love how he is always gives time to all kind of tourists. Show them how we works with passion and love. Price : 65€
  • Eggs man (I love this man) : the man from my hood I grow up with him I see him kindly everyday he is always on his zone being grateful for being alive everyday and he never hesitate to gives me beautiful prayers. In this picture we can see his skin are matching with his place. Price : 45€

Adrien : What is your favorite street food ?

Karim : Hard to choose.. well I will back to my childhood since 2000 until today this guy still exist with same taste same sauce same vibes.

It was Sardines ball fried in a big oil bath with Onions tomato coriander and persil with homemade spicy sauce they he make.

We call him Hassan Boutkorin ( boutkorin mean Balls guy in Tamazight)
